Ian Mawdsley &
St Vincent de Paul Society

When I first travelled to Sudan in 1998, I was told the visit would change my life. It did, and also those of my wife and family.

I saw homeless people living in the desert under plastic sheeting and hungry toddlers sharing rations of food with other members of the family who had none. This affected me deeply because although not rich as a child, I had everything I needed. This made me determined to do what I could for them when I returned home.

Since then, with my wife and with the support of other members of SVP we have raised over £2 million and fully intend to continue raising money for our brothers and sisters in Sudan who have so much need, but so much appreciation for all the help we give them.

Please follow the links below to find out more about the SVP and its work both in the UK and around the world.
